Ritual is my great passion as far as both writing and religion are concerned. I've been writing them since I first became a Pagan in the early 70s, so I have a fair amount of experience at it. The two books I've had published, the one that's coming out soon, and the two that haven't been published yet, are all about ritual. It was a no-brainer that a section on ritual would have to be added to my page, then.
Most Pagan books or sites give rituals, but no theory. In fact, they don't seem to care about the why's. I guess that's to be expected, since the number of original rituals on-line is small; most are either taken whole-cloth from other ones, or are spun together from fragments of others.
Academia, on the other hand, gives us just theory. I think that a lot of scholars would learn a lot by trying to write their own rituals, or by talking to those of us who do. So if there are any academics reading this, drop me a line and we'll talk.
